October 1, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker
A parent's guide to city and county summer camps in Palm Beach County, with registration timing, weekly costs, splash pads, public pools and the two county water parks, sorted by where you live.
Summer camps Palm Beach County families rely on are mostly run by city and village recreation departments, and the best spots go fast. If you just moved here, or you are still choosing a town, the camp you can get into may depend on your address. This guide sorts the main public options by city. It covers when registration usually opens, what a week costs, and where kids can cool off at splash pads, public pools and the county's two water parks.
Key takeaways
- Most public day camps in the county are run by individual cities and villages, not by one countywide program. Residents usually get the first chance to register.
- For summer 2026, resident registration opened between late February and late March, depending on the city. Popular weeks filled quickly.
- Weekly 2026 prices for full-day city camps ran from $185 in Wellington to $250 in North Palm Beach for residents. Nonresidents paid more.
- Palm Beach County Parks runs two water parks: Calypso Bay in Royal Palm Beach and Coconut Cove in the Boca Raton area.
- Free splash pads sit in parks in Royal Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Lake Worth and West Palm Beach, among other places.
How summer camps in Palm Beach work
Palm Beach County has dozens of cities, towns and villages, and many of them run their own summer day camp. So there is no single sign-up date or price. Instead, each recreation department sets its own season, rules and fees.
Most of these camps follow the school calendar. They start in early June, a few days after classes end, and wrap up in late July or early August. Full-day camps usually run Monday to Friday and include games, crafts, sports and field trips. On top of that, many cities add specialty camps for things like theater, tennis, surfing or robotics.
Residency matters a lot. Cities generally open registration to their own residents first, then to everyone else a day to a few weeks later. In fact, Jupiter limits its School's Out camps to residents of the incorporated town. That is why two homes a mile apart, one inside city limits and one in unincorporated county, can lead to very different camp options.
The Palm Beach County School District also offers camps at many elementary schools for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Those run through the district's own sign-up system, so check it alongside your city's program.
Registration windows and what to expect
For summer 2026, most cities opened sign-ups in late winter. Here is how a few of them handled it:
- Wellington: Resident registration opened in three waves by age, on March 2, 4 and 6 at 8 a.m. Nonresidents could sign up one day after each resident date.
- North Palm Beach: Residents could register starting March 9 at 9 a.m., and nonresidents starting March 16.
- Boca Raton: Registration opened March 23 for residents and March 30 for nonresidents.
As a result, a family planning for summer 2027 should mark late February and March on the calendar now. Create your account on the city's recreation website before opening day. Some systems require it, and Wellington asks first-time campers for a copy of a birth certificate.
Also read the refund rules before you pay. For example, Royal Palm Beach's 2026 form lists an $80 deposit to hold a camper's spot that is not refundable. North Palm Beach charges a $25 fee per camper, per week for transfers or refunds.
Summer camps in Palm Beach County by city
The programs below are run by local governments. Private camps, YMCAs and church camps add many more choices, but these public programs are where most families start.
Wellington
Wellington's all-day summer camp serves ages 5 to 15 at the Village Park Gymnasium on Pierson Road. In 2026 it ran Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., from June 1 through August 7. The weekly cost was $185 for residents and $210 for nonresidents. Those long hours suit parents who both work.
Wellington also runs the Wellington Aquatics Complex on Forest Hill Boulevard, with an Olympic-size pool. If you are weighing the village as a place to live, our Wellington community page covers neighborhoods and schools.
Royal Palm Beach summer camps
Royal Palm Beach's Parks and Recreation Department runs a youth summer day camp that includes field trips. Families fill out a packet with medical, pickup and field trip permissions. The village also has two parks with splash pads, which we cover below. See our Royal Palm Beach area guide for more on the village.
Jupiter and North Palm Beach
The Town of Jupiter runs its youth summer day camp out of the Jupiter Community Center at 200 Military Trail. It also offers one-week sport camps in basketball, baseball, volleyball, football, soccer, softball, cheerleading and dance. These run three hours a day at Jupiter Community Park or the community center. For days off during the school year, the School's Out camps cost $50 a day for residents.
Nearby, North Palm Beach ran its 2026 summer day camp from June 8 to July 31 at the community center on Prosperity Farms Road. It cost $250 a week for residents and $300 for nonresidents, and it promised at least two field trips a week.
Boca Raton
Boca Raton offers more than 30 camps, from half-day to full-day, for kids from age 4 into the teen years. Choices include acting, rock band, tennis, pickleball, golf, junior lifeguards and an environmental camp at Gumbo Limbo. Prices vary by camp. For example, the 2026 acting and improv camp cost $350 a week for residents and $437.50 for nonresidents. Several sessions, including junior lifeguards, sold out.
Palm Beach Gardens summer camps and other cities
Palm Beach Gardens runs Camp Gardens and School's Out camps through its Recreation Department, with online sign-ups. Many other cities, including Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and West Palm Beach, run their own programs too. Look at each city's parks and recreation page in January for the coming season.
Splash pads near you
Splash pads are the easy, free option for younger kids on hot days. Most are part of a larger park with shade, a playground and restrooms. A few worth knowing:
- Royal Palm Beach: Commons Park on Poinciana Boulevard has a splash fountain, a toddler play area and a playscape. Veterans Park has a splash pad as well.
- Delray Beach: Catherine Strong Park on SW 6th Street has a splash park, playground and basketball courts. It is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Lake Worth area: The county's John Prince Memorial Park has a splash park on Lake Worth Road.
- West Palm Beach area: Westgate Park on Oswego Avenue has a county splash park.
- Belle Glade: Glades Pioneer Park has a splash park next to a county pool.
Hours can change for repairs or weather, so check the park's page before you load the car.
Public pools and county water parks
For bigger kids, a pool or water park beats a splash pad. Palm Beach County Parks runs two water parks:
- Calypso Bay Waterpark sits inside Seminole Palms Park in Royal Palm Beach.
- Coconut Cove Waterpark sits inside Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, west of Boca Raton.
Both have a lazy river, tall water slides and a play area for small children. They are seasonal, so check each park's website for hours and prices before you go.
The county also runs public pools in several cities. These include Aqua Crest in Delray Beach, Gleneagles near Lake Worth, Lake Lytal in West Palm Beach, North County in Jupiter, Santaluces in Lantana and Pioneer Park in Belle Glade. Many offer swim lessons in summer, and those classes can fill about as fast as camps do.
Choosing where to live with summer camps in Palm Beach in mind
If summer plans are part of your home search, a few questions help:
- Is the home inside city limits? A Wellington or Jupiter mailing address does not always mean you live in the village or town. Resident rates and priority depend on the actual city boundary.
- How far is the camp? Drop-off and pickup twice a day add up. A camp ten minutes away is worth more than a slightly cheaper one across the county.
- Do the hours match your work? Wellington's camp runs until 6 p.m. Other camps end earlier or offer half days only.
- What is close for weekends? Living near a splash pad, pool or water park makes long summer weekends much easier.
Our agents can point out which neighborhoods fall inside each city's limits during a tour. For more ideas in one part of the county, see our guide to things to do in Boynton Beach with kids.
