Where Does Derek Jeter Live in Florida? Coral Gables, Gables Estates and the Tampa Mansion

September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker

Derek Jeter moved to Coral Gables when he took over the Marlins in 2017, sold that house for $13.2 million in February 2026, and is building a 20,000-square-foot waterfront home on a double lot in Gables Estates. He also sold his famous Tampa mansion in 2021. Here is what reporting says about each, and what those markets cost now.

Where does Derek Jeter live? He lives in Coral Gables, in Miami-Dade County, and has since he became CEO and part owner of the Marlins in 2017. The Real Deal reported in February 2026 that he sold his first Coral Gables house for $13.2 million, double what he paid. He is building a new waterfront home a few miles south in Gables Estates, on a double lot he bought in 2021 for $16.6 million. Here is what reporting says about both, about the Tampa mansion he sold, and what these markets cost.

Key takeaways

  • Coral Gables, near Old Cutler Road: a seven-bedroom house bought in 2018 for $6.5 million through an LLC and sold in February 2026 for $13.2 million, per The Real Deal.
  • Gables Estates, under construction: a two-acre double lot bought in 2021 for $16.6 million, with plans for a 20,000-square-foot home and a dock for two megayachts.
  • Tampa, Davis Islands: his 22,000-square-foot bayfront mansion, once rented to Tom Brady, sold in 2021 for $22.5 million.
  • Coral Gables median list price is about $2 million across roughly 440 active listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026.

Where does Derek Jeter live in Florida?

The answer is Coral Gables. The city sits southwest of downtown Miami. It has Mediterranean architecture, canopy streets and a strict building code that keeps it looking the way it did in the 1920s. Its southern end, along Old Cutler Road and the bay, holds the county's biggest estates. Jeter landed there when the Marlins job began.

The first house was inland, on nearly an acre near Old Cutler Road. The Real Deal reported that a Delaware LLC tied to Jeter paid $6.5 million for it in 2018. He ran the Marlins from that base until he left the team in early 2022, and he stayed in the house for four more years after that.

The next house will be on the water. In 2021 an LLC linked to Jeter paid $16.6 million for a double lot in Gables Estates, the guard-gated waterfront community at the city's southern tip. Pure Equity does not publish private addresses, so we name the neighborhoods only. You can see current inventory on our Coral Gables page and our Gables Estates community page.

Inside the reported Coral Gables home he sold

Pinstripes Nation, citing The Real Deal, described the house he sold in February 2026. It covers 8,208 square feet with seven bedrooms and seven baths, built in 2004 on a lot of nearly an acre. Reported features include a pool, a basketball court, a summer kitchen, a wine cellar, a chef's kitchen, an office and an elevator.

The listing asked $14.9 million. Mocca Realty held it, and the buyer came through Compass. The sale closed at $13.2 million, about $1.7 million under the ask and $6.7 million over the 2018 purchase. That doubling in eight years tracks the wider Coral Gables market, where estate prices roughly doubled between 2020 and 2023 and have held since.

The buyer was not named in the coverage we found. That is normal for Coral Gables estates, where most sales at this level close through LLCs on both sides.

The Gables Estates lot and the house to come

Modern Luxury and The Real Deal covered the 2021 lot purchase. The parcel is about two acres, the largest waterfront double lot in the community, with 325 feet of frontage on a wide canal. It came with a new seawall and docks that can hold two large yachts. Architect Cesar Molina drew plans for a 20,000-square-foot custom home.

At $16.6 million, the land alone cost more than the house Jeter just sold. That is the Gables Estates math. Buyers pay for frontage and dock depth first, then spend as much again on the build. Once finished, the home will sit in the same enclave where The Weeknd paid a reported $50 million in 2025, a figure that reset the ceiling for the whole community.

Construction status is not reported in detail. The 2026 coverage of his sale said only that he is building there, which suggests the family will move to the water once the house is done.

The Tampa mansion he sold

Before Miami there was Tampa. Jeter built a bayfront mansion on Davis Islands, near downtown Tampa, that became one of the most photographed homes in Florida. CBS News reported it at about 22,000 square feet with seven bedrooms. Add a 3,000-square-foot outdoor kitchen and 350 feet of water frontage. He listed it in 2021 for $29 million.

Tom Brady rented it during his first season with the Buccaneers, which made the listing national news. CBS Sports reported the sale in 2021 at $22.5 million. Davis Islands is a peninsula neighborhood in Hillsborough County, on the opposite coast from the counties Pure Equity serves. We cover it because the search interest is real.

Why Jeter chose Coral Gables

The reason on the record is the job. The Marlins play in Little Havana, about 20 minutes from southern Coral Gables. His ownership group, formed in 2017, needed him in Miami year-round. Coral Gables is where Miami executives who want a house, a yard and good private schools tend to land.

He stayed after the job ended. Jeter left the Marlins in February 2022, but he kept the house until 2026 and doubled down with the Gables Estates lot in 2021. That is not the pattern of a man passing through. His wife Hannah and their children have been based in Miami through his broadcasting work with Fox. The new build points to a long stay.

Where else does Derek Jeter live?

Reporting has tied him to several other homes over the years. He owned a large estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, that he listed in 2018 and later sold. A Manhattan penthouse from his Yankees years went in 2012. His family roots are in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he grew up. As of the reporting we found, Coral Gables is the primary home and the only Florida property he currently holds is the Gables Estates lot under construction.

What homes near Derek Jeter cost

Coral Gables is a big, mixed market. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 440 active listings with a median list price near $2 million and an average of about 130 days on market. Estates on nearly an acre like the one he sold sit well above that median, generally from $8 million up for a renovated house.

Gables Estates is its own tier, with listings from about $10 million for a lot to $50 million and more for a finished waterfront mansion. Next door, Cocoplum offers gated waterfront at somewhat lower prices. Pinecrest, inland to the south, carries a median near $5.1 million and draws the same buyers who want acreage without the water.
