Where Does Dwyane Wade Live in Florida? The Miami Beach Estate He Sold for $22 Million

September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker

Dwyane Wade owned a bayfront estate on North Bay Road in Miami Beach for eleven years and sold it with Gabrielle Union for $22 million in 2021. The couple lives in Hidden Hills, California. Here is what The Real Deal and others reported about the house, the sale, and what North Bay Road costs today.

Where does Dwyane Wade live? He lives in Hidden Hills, California, with his wife Gabrielle Union. For most of his Heat career, though, home was a bayfront estate on North Bay Road in Miami Beach. He bought it in 2010, rebuilt it, listed it for $32.5 million after he retired, and sold it in June 2021 for $22 million, per The Real Deal. Here is what reporting says about the house he had, why he left, and what that stretch of Biscayne Bay costs now.

Key takeaways

  • Miami Beach, North Bay Road: a bayfront estate on the street that has housed Shakira, Alex Rodriguez and Phil Collins.
  • Bought for about $10.6 million in 2010, listed at $32.5 million in 2019, sold for $22 million in June 2021, per The Real Deal and the Wall Street Journal.
  • About 13,800 square feet with six bedrooms, nine baths, a wine room, a theater, a game room and an outdoor basketball court.
  • Miami Beach median list price is about $650,000 across roughly 2,500 active listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026; bayfront houses trade far above it.

Where does Dwyane Wade live in Florida?

He does not own a Florida home now, as far as public reporting shows. But for eleven years he owned one of the best-known houses in Miami Beach. North Bay Road runs along the Biscayne Bay side of the island, north of the Venetian Causeway, and its bayfront lots have long been the address of choice for athletes and musicians. Wade's house sat on that stretch with a pool facing the water.

He bought it in 2010, the summer LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined him in Miami. That timing is not a coincidence. The Heat's big-three era made Wade the face of the city, and a bayfront estate ten minutes from the arena fit the role. He stayed through two titles, a short exit to Chicago and Cleveland, and his 2019 farewell season.

Inside the reported North Bay Road estate

The Real Deal reported that Wade paid about $10.6 million for the property in 2010 and later renovated it. By the time he listed it in September 2019, the house covered about 13,800 square feet with six bedrooms. The Tampa Bay Times counted nine baths. Reported features include a wine room, a game room, a home theater and an outdoor basketball court, which is the detail everyone remembers.

The listing history is a lesson in pricing. The Real Deal's 2019 headline put the ask at $33 million; the text said $32.5 million. Through 2020 the house sat, with a price cut along the way, which Cottages and Gardens covered. Then in June 2021 it sold to an unnamed buyer for $22 million. The Wall Street Journal reported the sale first, and The Real Deal confirmed it.

That is more than $10 million under the original ask. It is also more than double what he paid, before the cost of the renovation. So the sale was a win on the purchase and a miss on the listing, which is how most trophy homes in Miami Beach went in the years before the 2021 boom took hold.

Why Wade chose Miami Beach, and why he left

The reason he bought is simple. He played for the Heat from 2003 to 2016 and again from 2018 to 2019, and North Bay Road is ten minutes from the arena. Miami Beach also gave him and Union, who married in Miami in 2014, a base close to the city's nightlife and restaurant scene that they were part of.

The reason he left is also simple: work and family moved west. Union's acting career is in Los Angeles. Wade's post-playing career, including television, his production company and his stake in the Utah Jazz, runs from there too. The couple bought a house in Hidden Hills in February 2020, a full year before the Miami Beach sale closed. The Real Deal put that purchase at $18 million.

Wade also made the move personal in interviews. He said the family wanted a fresh start in a place where their kids could grow up with more privacy. Hidden Hills, a gated city in the hills west of Los Angeles, is built for that.

There is a Miami footnote. Wade still shows up for the Heat. The team retired his jersey in 2020 and unveiled a statue of him outside the arena in 2024, and he has a media role covering the league. None of that requires a house. A hotel or a friend's guest room covers a weekend, and reporting has not tied him to any Florida purchase since the sale.

Where else does Dwyane Wade live?

Hidden Hills is the primary home. The Real Deal reported an $18 million off-market purchase in early 2020; Hello magazine has described the house at $20 million, and celebrity-home trackers have cited $17.9 million. The size is reported between 17,000 and 22,000 square feet, which suggests the outlets are counting different things. It is a large, newly built estate either way.

Reports have also tied the couple to a beach house in New York and to earlier homes in the Chicago area, where Wade grew up and once owned a house during his Bulls season. We could not confirm which of those they still own. In short, California is home and Florida is history.

What homes near Dwyane Wade's old estate cost

Miami Beach is a big, mixed market. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 2,500 active listings with a median list price near $650,000 and an average of about 160 days on market. Condos drive that median. A bayfront house on North Bay Road is a different market, where the $22 million Wade got in 2021 now sits near the middle of the range rather than the top.

The 2021 sale marked the turn. Prices on the bay side of the island roughly doubled between 2020 and 2023 as buyers from New York and California arrived. A house like Wade's, renovated and on the water with a dock, would list well above $30 million today, which is the number he could not get in 2019.
