Where Does Matt Damon Live in Florida? The Miami Beach Estate He Sold

September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker

Matt Damon lives in Brooklyn now, but for nine years he owned a bayfront estate on North Bay Road in Miami Beach. He bought two lots for $14.5 million in 2005 and sold the finished home for $15.375 million in 2014. This post covers that house, why Miami mattered to him, where he moved, and what North Bay Road costs today.

Where does Matt Damon live? In Brooklyn, New York, in a penthouse he bought in 2018. He is a former Florida homeowner rather than a current one. From 2005 to 2014 he owned a bayfront estate on North Bay Road in Miami Beach, and the sale of that house was one of the bigger celebrity deals of its year. Here is what public reporting says about the home he had, why Miami mattered to him, where he went next and what that street costs now.

Key takeaways

  • North Bay Road, Miami Beach: a double lot bayfront estate he owned from 2005 to 2014, per The Real Deal.
  • Bought the two lots for $14.5 million in 2005 and sold the finished home for $15.375 million in December 2014.
  • Seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms on about 43,000 square feet of land, listed first at $20 million in 2013.
  • Miami Beach median list price is about $650,000 across roughly 2,500 listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026.

Where does Matt Damon live in Florida?

He does not live in Florida today, and no outlet has reported a new Florida purchase since he sold in 2014. The home he had was on North Bay Road, the long bayfront street that runs up the west side of Miami Beach from the Sunset Islands toward La Gorce. It is the city's best known address for large single family waterfront homes. Over the years it has housed a long list of musicians, athletes and executives.

Damon's estate sat on the upper stretch of the road, on the Biscayne Bay side. Reports at the time noted that Shakira was trying to sell her own North Bay Road home while Damon's went under contract. That tells you the company he kept. Our post on where Shakira lives covers that house. For the street as a whole, see our Miami Beach page and the neighboring La Gorce community page.

Pure Equity does not publish private addresses. The house appeared in news reports with its location, and we name only the street and the city.

Inside the reported North Bay Road estate

The Real Deal reported that Damon bought two adjoining lots on North Bay Road in 2005 for a combined $14.5 million. He then built out a Mediterranean style home that came to be marketed under the name Marabella. The finished property had seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms on about 43,000 square feet of land, which is close to an acre and a rare size for that street.

He listed the estate in 2013 at $20 million, Miami New Times reported. The ask later dropped to $18.999 million. In December 2014 the home sold for $15.375 million to Patrick Markert, a mortgage company executive, according to The Real Deal. The Jills at Coldwell Banker represented both sides.

Read those numbers together and the result is modest. Damon put $14.5 million into the land alone in 2005, at the top of the last cycle. Nine years later he sold the finished house for less than a million more. Construction costs are not public, so the true outcome was likely a loss. It is a useful reminder that even prime Miami Beach dirt can go sideways for a decade.

Why Matt Damon chose Miami Beach

The Miami tie is personal. Damon met his wife, Luciana Barroso, in Miami in 2003 while he was in town filming, a story both of them have told in interviews. She was living in the city at the time. They married in 2005, the same year he bought the North Bay Road lots. So the house was less an investment play than a base near her home town during their first years as a family.

Miami Beach also worked for a working actor. It is a two and a half hour flight to New York and a direct flight to Los Angeles, and North Bay Road offers privacy without a gate. The couple's daughters were young during the Miami years. By the early 2010s, though, Damon's work had shifted west, and the family was spending most of its time in Los Angeles. The 2013 listing followed.

Where else does Matt Damon live?

Brooklyn Heights is home now. In late 2018 Damon paid about $16.7 million for a triplex penthouse in a converted building called The Standish. At the time, 6sqft reported, it was the most expensive residential sale in Brooklyn. The unit runs about 6,200 square feet with six bedrooms and a large terrace. His 2020 move in made news because a crane closed the street to lift furniture and trees up 14 stories.

Los Angeles is the home he left. Robb Report and The Hollywood Reporter covered his Pacific Palisades estate. He bought it in 2012 for $15 million, listed it at $21 million in January 2021 and sold it that November for $18 million. The house was about 13,500 square feet with seven bedrooms. The buyer was then Warner Bros. chief Ann Sarnoff. Since that sale, reporting places the family in New York full time.

What homes near Matt Damon's old street cost

North Bay Road is its own market inside Miami Beach. Bayfront lots there have sold for well over $20 million in recent years, and new construction on the water has gone far higher. Damon's 2014 sale at $15.375 million for nearly an acre would not buy the same land today. The upper part of the road near La Gorce and the Sunset Islands is the priciest stretch.

The city as a whole is a different story. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 showed about 2,500 active listings in Miami Beach, a median list price near $650,000 and an average of about 161 days on market. That median comes from condos. Single family waterfront homes are a small slice of the inventory, and you can filter for them on our waterfront homes and luxury homes hubs.

Buyers who want the North Bay Road feel at a lower price often look across the bay. Coral Gables and the Miami side of the bay have similar lots at different numbers, and our Miami-Dade County page compares them. Sellers on the beach should plan for a long marketing window; Damon's house took about 20 months from first listing to closing.

The Damon sale also shows how list price and sale price can drift apart at the top of the market. His first ask was $20 million. The final number was about 23 percent lower. That gap is common on North Bay Road, where sellers often price to a future comp rather than a past one. A listing agent who knows the street can pull the real closed sales, including the off market deals that never hit a portal, and set a number that draws offers in the first month instead of the twentieth.
