NBC 6 reported in 2013 that Shakira paid $3.38 million for the property in 2001. Islander News rounded that to $3.3 million. The Real Deal, in a 2018 story, said $3.3 million in 2003. So the price is settled and the year is not. At purchase the house had three bedrooms and four and a half baths, per NBC 6. Shakira expanded it to six bedrooms.

The Real Deal described a six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bath home with more than 100 feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay. It quoted a 20,726-square-foot figure, which reads like the lot, since other outlets put the living area at roughly 8,000 to 9,000 square feet. Reported features include a hookah lounge and wood floors brought in from Spain. There is also a gym, a pool with a hardwood deck and a private dock. In 2018 her brother, Antonio Mebarak of Douglas Elliman, held the listing with a colleague.

The sale history is long. NBC 6 covered a $14.95 million ask in 2013. The Real Deal covered an $11.648 million ask in 2018. Then in February 2021 Islander News reported the price had gone up to $15.9 million. That came after roughly six years on and off the market, and it aimed to catch the pandemic-era rush of buyers.

It still did not sell. In August 2024 Hola reported the home was on the market with a buyer showing interest. But it also quoted journalists on a drainage problem. The bathrooms sit below water level, and they flood when Miami rains hard. By March 2025 Metro World News had the ask back near $11.6 million and quoted an agent on the same issue. That story also said Marc Anthony had looked at the house in 2024 and did not buy.

Why Shakira came back to Miami

The reason is well reported and simple. Shakira and Gerard Pique separated in 2022. Fox News reported that the custody agreement let her move to Miami with Milan and Sasha, and she did so in April 2023. Her wider family was already there.
