Where does The Weeknd live? His main home is a Bel Air mansion in Los Angeles. But in October 2025 he closed on a waterfront estate in Gables Estates, a gated enclave in Coral Gables, for a reported $50 million. Realtor.com called it a record for the city. It is his first South Florida purchase. Here is what The Real Deal, Fox Business and Realtor.com reported about the house, the price, and what homes in Gables Estates cost.
Key takeaways
- Coral Gables, Gables Estates: a guard-gated waterfront community on Biscayne Bay, south of downtown Miami.
- Closed at a reported $50 million in October 2025, down from a $54.9 million ask, per Realtor.com; The Real Deal reported the contract in September.
- About 19,000 square feet on a 1.2-acre point lot with 574 feet of water frontage and a dock for a 200-foot yacht.
- Coral Gables median list price is about $2 million across roughly 440 active listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026.
Where does The Weeknd live in Florida?
His Florida home is in Gables Estates. The community sits on the bay side of Coral Gables, with a guard gate, deep-water canals and some of the largest lots in Miami-Dade County. It has been the most expensive neighborhood in the county for years. Fox Business described it as an exclusive enclave, and the sale prices back that up.
The Real Deal broke the story on October 3, 2025. It reported that Abel Tesfaye, the singer's legal name, was under contract to buy an eight-bedroom home from Steven Lempera, an oil-recycling executive. The listing asked $54.9 million. Realtor.com then reported the closing on October 10 at $50 million, a discount of nearly $5 million.

Inside the reported Gables Estates mansion
The Real Deal put the house at 18,963 square feet, with eight bedrooms and nine and a half baths. Realtor.com rounded that to 18,000 square feet and counted nine full baths plus several half baths. The lot is the real asset: a V-shaped point of about 1.2 acres with water on three sides and 574 feet of frontage on protected water.
The dock runs 140 feet and can hold a yacht of about 200 feet, per Realtor.com. Reported features inside include a split grand staircase, curved walls, a screening room, a formal dining room for twelve, a wet bar, a gym and a marble kitchen. The primary suite has a spa bath, a private lounge and a dressing room. Outside there is an infinity pool with a patterned bottom, a hot tub and an outdoor kitchen.
The listing history explains the discount. Realtor.com traced it back to September 2020, when the house first asked $49.9 million. It rose to $54.9 million in 2021, came off the market in 2022, returned at $57 million in early 2024, and dropped back to $54.9 million in June 2025. Five years and four price changes later, a cash buyer got it for $50 million.
Even at the discount, it set a record. Fox Business and Realtor.com both reported the closing as the highest price ever paid for a home in Coral Gables. Prior sales in Gables Estates had topped out in the $40 million range, according to The Real Deal's coverage of the enclave.
Why The Weeknd chose Coral Gables
He has not said. None of the reporting includes a statement from the singer, so the reasons below are the ones the outlets themselves raised. The first is the dock. A 140-foot slip on protected water within a gated community is rare anywhere in Florida, and it suits an owner who arrives by boat rather than by road.
The second is the trend he joined. The Real Deal's year-end roundup of celebrity buyers in Miami listed him alongside a dozen musicians and athletes who bought in 2025. Gables Estates and nearby Cocoplum have drawn tech founders, athletes and entertainers because the lots are big and the gate keeps cameras out. Florida's lack of a state income tax comes up in every one of those stories too.
The third is privacy. Unlike a Miami Beach island, where boats pass yards from the seawall, Gables Estates canals are dead ends behind a guardhouse. For a performer who has spent a decade in Bel Air behind gates, that is the closest Miami equivalent.
Where else does The Weeknd live?
Bel Air is the primary home. Realtor.com noted he bought a 33,000-square-foot mansion there in 2021 for $70 million. It has a gym, an indoor pool, a theater, a recording studio, an infinity pool and a sport court. That house is nearly twice the size of the Coral Gables one and remains his base for recording and film work.
He grew up in Scarborough, a district of Toronto, and reporting has tied him to condos there over the years. We found no current confirmed Toronto home. So the picture is Los Angeles first, Coral Gables second, with the Florida house less than a year old in his portfolio as of this writing.
The two homes serve different jobs. Bel Air has the studio. It is where the albums get made. Coral Gables has the dock and the bay. It is a place to leave the work behind. Many two-coast owners run the same split, and the Florida house tends to get more use each year. Watch for a studio build-out in Coral Gables. That would be the sign the balance has shifted.
What homes near The Weeknd cost
Coral Gables as a whole is a big, varied market. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 440 active listings with a median list price near $2 million and an average of about 130 days on market. That median covers everything from 1920s cottages near Miracle Mile to bayfront estates.
Gables Estates is its own tier. Listings there start above $10 million and run past $50 million, and only a handful trade each year. The Weeknd's $50 million closing now sets the ceiling. For owners inside the gate, that number will show up in every appraisal and every listing pitch for the next few years.
The neighbors offer a step down. Cocoplum, the gated waterfront community next door, trades in the high single digits to low tens of millions. Coconut Grove, just north along the bay, carries a median near $3.25 million across about 60 listings. Pinecrest, inland to the south, sits near $5.1 million.
