Where Does Lenny Kravitz Live in Florida? His Former Miami Beach Homes
September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker
Lenny Kravitz does not live in Florida today. His homes are in Paris, on Eleuthera in the Bahamas and in Brazil. But in the 2000s he owned two Miami Beach houses, including a bayfront estate on Sunset Island II he sold for $14.5 million. This post covers both, where he went, and what those islands cost now.
Where does Lenny Kravitz live? Not in Florida, at least not any more. His main homes are a mansion in Paris and a beach compound on Eleuthera in the Bahamas, with a ranch in Brazil as a third base. The Miami Beach chapter is real, though. In the 2000s he owned a bayfront estate on Sunset Island II and a smaller house on Biscayne Point, and both sales made the papers. Here is what public reporting says about the homes he had, where he went, and what those islands cost today.
Key takeaways
- Former Miami Beach owner, not a current one: two homes sold in 2005 and 2009, per The Real Deal.
- Bought the Sunset Island II estate for about $9 million in 2001 and sold it for $14.5 million in 2005, The Real Deal reported.
- About 12,000 square feet on a 25,000 square foot bayfront lot with 125 feet of frontage, a private beach and a dock.
- Miami Beach median list price is about $650,000 across roughly 2,500 listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026.
Where does Lenny Kravitz live in Florida?
He does not have a Florida home that any outlet has reported. What he had was a stretch of years in Miami Beach that ended in 2009. The bigger of his two homes sat on Sunset Island II, one of four small islands off the west side of Miami Beach with a guard house and bayfront lots. The smaller one sat on Biscayne Point, a residential peninsula at the north end of the city with canal and bay frontage.
Both are typical of where musicians and athletes buy in Miami Beach. They offer water, a gate or a single road in, and a ten minute drive to South Beach. The Sunset Islands in particular have drawn a long list of names; our South Florida celebrity roundup covers several of them. You can see current inventory on the Sunset Islands page and across the city on our Miami Beach page.
Pure Equity does not publish private addresses. Both homes below appeared in news reports with their locations, and we name only the islands.
Inside the reported Sunset Island II estate
The Sunset Island home is the one most people mean when they ask about Kravitz and Miami. He paid about $9 million for it in 2001 and sold it in 2005 for $14.5 million, The Real Deal reported. His buyer was Stephen Muss, the Miami Beach developer behind the Fontainebleau's ownership for many years. Muss held it for more than a decade.
The house is big. Reports put the main residence at nearly 12,000 square feet with six bedrooms, in a Mediterranean style with arched doors and windows. The lot is about 25,000 square feet with 125 feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay. There is a private beach, a saltwater pool and spa, a guest house, a gazebo with a summer kitchen, a library, a gym and a movie theater, according to The Real Deal.
The later sale is the useful part for anyone pricing a waterfront home. Muss listed the estate in May 2016 at $25 million. In December 2017 it sold for $16.5 million, a 34 percent cut from the first ask, The Real Deal reported. The Jills at Coldwell Banker held the listing and Nelson Gonzalez of EWM represented the buyer. So the house doubled in value during Kravitz's four years, then gained little over the next twelve.
Inside the reported Biscayne Point home
The second Miami Beach property is smaller and less known. In January 2018 The Real Deal reported that a former Kravitz home on Biscayne Point had hit the market for nearly $6 million. The same report said Kravitz sold that house in 2009 for $2.45 million to a couple named Cromwell, who then listed it.
Details on size and layout are thin in the coverage we found, so we will not guess at them. What the sale shows is the arc of North Beach waterfront prices between 2009 and 2018, when a $2.45 million sale turned into a $6 million ask. Biscayne Point and the nearby Normandy Shores area remain the cheaper end of Miami Beach waterfront, though cheap is relative.
Why Lenny Kravitz chose Miami Beach
Kravitz has not given a long public account of why he bought in Miami Beach, so we stick to what is on the record. He was born in New York in 1964 and grew up between New York and Los Angeles. By 2001 he had five studio albums out and was recording and touring at a pace that made a warm weather base useful. Miami Beach in the early 2000s was also a design town, and Kravitz's design firm, Kravitz Design, launched in 2003.
The two homes fit different phases. On Sunset Island he held a full trophy property, bought at the peak of his commercial run. The Biscayne Point house was a more modest holding he kept until 2009. After that his real estate attention moved overseas, and no Florida purchase has been reported since.
Where else does Lenny Kravitz live?
Paris is the main home. In April 2025 Architectural Digest featured his mansion in the 16th arrondissement, which he named Hotel de Roxie after his mother, the actress Roxie Roker. CNN's summary of that feature says he has owned the house for decades, having fallen for the city while promoting his first album in 1989, and that he spends about half the year there. He has said the house will pass to his daughter, Zoe Kravitz.
The Bahamas is the other half. Kravitz owns a compound on Eleuthera, where his mother's family has roots, and he has described living part of the year in an Airstream trailer on the beach there. He grows his own food on the property, per interviews cited by Yahoo and Travel Noire. A ranch in Brazil rounds out the list. In short, his current homes sit in three countries and none of them is the United States.
What homes near Lenny Kravitz's old islands cost
Miami Beach as a whole had about 2,500 active listings, a median list price of about $650,000 and an average of roughly 161 days on market in our MLS feed as of September 2026. That median is a condo number. The Sunset Islands and the other guarded islands trade far higher, and the 2017 sale of Kravitz's old estate at $16.5 million is still a fair marker for a large bayfront lot there.
Biscayne Point and North Beach are the more approachable waterfront. Homes on canals there have sold in the low millions in recent years, while direct bay lots run higher. If you are shopping that tier, our waterfront homes hub and luxury homes hub filter for it, and the Miami-Dade County page shows the mainland alternatives.
For sellers, the Muss sale is the lesson. A $25 million ask on a home that later closed at $16.5 million cost the owner 19 months. Pricing to the market on day one tends to beat chasing it down.
