Where Does Mark Calcavecchia Live in Florida? His Loxahatchee River Home

September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker

Mark Calcavecchia grew up in Palm Beach County and never really left. Golf Digest described the compound he built on the Loxahatchee River near Jupiter and Tequesta, and this post covers that, his Phoenix and North Carolina homes, and the river market today.

Where does Mark Calcavecchia live? The 1989 Open champion lives on the Loxahatchee River in the Jupiter and Tequesta area of northern Palm Beach County. Golf Digest described a compound he built there, complete with its own bowling alley, and his wife Brenda says the couple has called the Jupiter area home for more than 20 years. Here is what public reporting says about the house, the river, and what homes along it sell for. Pure Equity does not publish private addresses.

Key takeaways

  • The Loxahatchee River near Jupiter and Tequesta is home, and it has been for two decades.
  • No purchase price for the river compound appears in major reporting, so we do not quote one.
  • A two-lane bowling alley is the one feature Golf Digest chose to mention.
  • Tequesta homes list at a median of about $699,000 as of September 2026, and riverfront estates sit well above that.

Where does Mark Calcavecchia live in Florida?

Calcavecchia lives on the Loxahatchee River, the tidal river that runs from the Jupiter Inlet west past the town line into Tequesta. Outlets describe the location two ways. Wikipedia and the PGA Tour list his home as Jupiter. Golf Digest, in a 2010 "My Town" column, said he built a compound in Tequesta on the river. Both are right in practice. The river forms the border between the two, and homes along it carry either name depending on which bank they sit on.

His wife Brenda, a real estate agent who works golf communities in Florida and North Carolina, writes on her own site that the couple has lived in the Jupiter area for over 20 years. She adds that they belong to several golf clubs in the region and spend summers in Sapphire, North Carolina.

So the answer is the river corridor at the Jupiter and Tequesta line, and it has been for a long time. Unlike most tour players who moved to Jupiter for the golf, he did not have far to come. His father moved the family to Palm Beach County in 1973, when Mark was 13.

Inside the reported Loxahatchee River compound

Golf Digest gave the best public look at the property. Writer Tim Rosaforte described a compound on the Loxahatchee with its own two-lane bowling alley, and he quoted the owner joking that guests at the guesthouse need to know "the proprietor pretty well." Calcavecchia told the magazine, "I'm going toes up here. And my wife loves it here more than I do."

That is nearly all a major outlet has said. The price he paid, the size of the house, and the year it went up have not appeared in the Palm Beach Post or The Real Deal. Celebrity-map sites list a 2007 purchase and a square footage, but they cite no source, so we leave those numbers out.

What the river offers is a matter of record. Homes on the Loxahatchee have dockage with ocean access through the Jupiter Inlet, and the stretch near the inlet is one of the few places in Palm Beach County where a boat can be at the reef in minutes. That, along with big lots and no oceanfront insurance exposure, is why riverfront trades at a premium over the town median.

Why Mark Calcavecchia chose the Jupiter area

He did not so much choose it as stay. Born in Laurel, Nebraska, in 1960, he grew up in Palm Beach County after his father moved the family south. He turned pro in 1981, joined the PGA Tour in 1982, and went on to win 13 times, including the 1989 Open Championship at Royal Troon in a playoff over Wayne Grady and Greg Norman.

Golf Digest asked him about the area in 2010, and his answer was blunt: "Undoubtedly the greatest place on earth is right here." He listed the courses he plays, and it reads like a map of the north county. The Bear's Club, the Dye Preserve, Medalist, and Breakers West made the list, and he recommended the Champion course at PGA National for visitors. For fun he bowls at Jupiter Lanes.

The golf schedule kept the location practical, too. He joined the PGA Tour Champions in 2010, and the senior circuit's Florida events sit within a short drive. Palm Beach International Airport handles the rest.

Where else does Mark Calcavecchia live?

Two other places show up in reporting. Golf Digest said he still owns a home in Phoenix, Arizona, a holdover from years spent playing the West Coast swing and the Phoenix Open. Wikipedia lists the same two homes, Jupiter and Phoenix.

The second is the North Carolina mountains. Brenda writes that the couple spends summers in Sapphire, near Highlands and Cashiers, and she sells golf-community homes there as well as in Florida. That pattern, Florida in winter and the Western North Carolina plateau in summer, is common among Jupiter golf-club owners who want out of the August heat.

Florida remains the primary home. He told Golf Digest he plans to stay for good, and nothing since suggests otherwise.

What homes near Mark Calcavecchia cost

The two towns on the river price differently. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 88 active listings in Tequesta, with a median list price near $699,000 and an average of 86 days on market. That is the fastest-moving market on this part of the coast. Jupiter is bigger, with about 729 listings, a median near $875,000, and 116 days on market.

Tequesta is small. It has one main road, a country club, and a mix of 1960s ranch homes and rebuilt riverfront estates. Because inventory is so thin, one or two big closings can move the median a lot from month to month. So read the Tequesta figure as a snapshot, not a trend.

Neither median describes the river. Riverfront lots with docks trade at multiples of those figures, and a compound of the kind Golf Digest described would sit at the top of the range. Buyers looking for that kind of property can start with waterfront homes across South Florida and narrow to the Loxahatchee.

For a golf-club option nearby, the Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter is a walking-only Jack Nicklaus course with a small number of homes, and the Tequesta Country Club sits right on the river. The Palm Beach County page covers the rest. Sellers on the river should know that boat access and dock depth drive value here more than square footage does.

Frequently asked questions

Where does Mark Calcavecchia live now?

He lives on the Loxahatchee River in the Jupiter and Tequesta area of Palm Beach County, Florida. Golf Digest described the compound in 2010, and his wife's site confirms the couple is still in the area.

Where in Jupiter does Mark Calcavecchia live?

The river corridor west of the Jupiter Inlet, at the line between Jupiter and Tequesta. Golf Digest called the location Tequesta, while the PGA Tour lists Jupiter. We do not publish street addresses.

Where does Mark Calcavecchia live full time?

Florida is the primary home. He also owns a home in Phoenix, and the couple spends summers in Sapphire, North Carolina. Reporting does not say how many months a year he spends in each place, so we do not guess.

How much did Mark Calcavecchia pay for his Florida home?

The price was not reported by a major outlet. Numbers on celebrity-home maps cite no source, so we do not repeat them.

Is Tequesta part of Jupiter?

No. Tequesta is its own village, just north of Jupiter across the Loxahatchee River, though the two share a zip code area and most services. Many river homes have a Jupiter mailing address and a Tequesta feel, which is why reporting on this one differs.

Does Mark Calcavecchia belong to the Loxahatchee Club?

Brokerage write-ups list him as a member of the Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, but we did not find a major outlet that says so. What Golf Digest did print is the list of courses he plays, and the Loxahatchee Club was not on it. Treat the membership claim as unconfirmed.

Can you buy a home on the Loxahatchee River?

Yes. Riverfront homes come up in both towns, and a few sit inside the Tequesta Country Club. Inventory is thin, so buyers usually set an alert and wait rather than pick from a list.
