Where Does Cristina Saralegui Live in Florida? The Pinecrest Estate She Sold

September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker

Cristina Saralegui, the host of El Show de Cristina, owned a 1.5-acre estate in north Pinecrest for eighteen years. She and her husband Marcos Avila sold it in June 2022 for $6.05 million, above the asking price, after one month on the market. Where they moved has not been reported. Here is what is public about the house and what Pinecrest costs now.

Where does Cristina Saralegui live? The longtime Univision host still lives in the Miami area, but not in the Pinecrest estate that made headlines. She and her husband, Marcos Avila, sold that home, known as Casa Macao, in June 2022 for $6.05 million. Reports say the sale closed above the asking price after only a month on the market. Where the couple moved next has not been reported. Here is the record on the house she had, and what the village around it costs today.

Key takeaways

  • Sold in June 2022 for $6.05 million: La Opinion reported the Pinecrest estate listed at $5.7 million on May 9 and closed a month later, 6.1 percent over asking.
  • Bought in 2004 for $3 million: the couple held the home for eighteen years and roughly doubled their money.
  • About 7,000 square feet on 1.53 acres: six bedrooms, five and a half baths, a pool and spa, a koi pond and a library, built in 1998.
  • Pinecrest median list price is about $5.1 million on roughly 170 listings, per our MLS feed as of September 2026.

Where does Cristina Saralegui live in Florida?

Cristina Saralegui lives in Miami-Dade County, where she has spent nearly her whole life since her family left Cuba in 1960. For eighteen years her home was in north Pinecrest, the village of acre lots and canopy roads south of Coral Gables. She sold that estate in 2022. Later coverage, including a 2024 La Nacion piece on her return to television, still places her in Miami, but no outlet we found has named her current neighborhood.

Pinecrest is the kind of place people choose for land rather than water. Lots of an acre or more are common, the public schools rank among the best in Miami-Dade County, and the streets are quiet. The village has drawn a long list of Latin media figures over the years, and Saralegui was one of the best-known. She bought there in 2004, three years after El Show de Cristina had made her the most-watched Spanish-language host in the country.

Pure Equity does not publish private addresses, for the former home or the current one.

Inside the reported Pinecrest estate

La Opinion published the details when the house sold. Casa Macao was built in 1998 to a design by the Miami architect Ramon Pacheco. It has 6,986 square feet of living space with six bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bath, on a lot of 1.53 acres. The floor plan included a foyer, a formal dining room, a family room, a bar, an office, a library, a gym and a three-car garage.

Outside there was a pool with a spa, a jacuzzi, a koi pond, an outdoor kitchen and a large lawn. A 180-gallon aquarium sat indoors. A 2021 La Opinion feature had already shown the interiors, with the tropical gardens and the dark-wood library that gave the house its Macao name.

The sale was fast. The listing went live on May 9, 2022 at $5.7 million. It went under contract on May 18 and closed on June 10 at $6.05 million, per La Opinion and El Diario NY. That was 6.1 percent over the asking price, a sign of how tight the Pinecrest market was in mid-2022. The buyer was not named. Saralegui had paid $3 million in 2004, so the sale roughly doubled the purchase price.

The house also worked as a stage. Saralegui hosted parties, interviews and charity events there over the years, and the gardens showed up in magazine spreads. A home built for entertaining, with a bar, a library and a big outdoor kitchen, is a different product from a family house of the same size. Buyers of that kind of estate tend to be few but specific, which is one reason the fast 2022 sale stood out.

Why Cristina Saralegui chose Pinecrest

She did not explain the 2004 move in the reports we found, but the timing tells the story. By 2004 she had hosted El Show de Cristina on Univision for fifteen years, ran Cristina magazine and had a radio show. Univision's headquarters and studios are in Doral, on the west side of the county. Pinecrest put her a half hour from work in a large private house with room for a home office and a full staff of dogs, which she has written about often.

The village also fit her profile as one of the most visible Cuban-Americans in Miami. Pinecrest has long been home to executives, doctors and entertainers from the Cuban exile community, and many of her guests and colleagues lived nearby.

Why did she sell in 2022? Again, no reported reason. The show had ended in 2010, she was in her seventies, and the house was large. A 7,000-square-foot estate on an acre and a half is a lot to keep. The quick sale suggests the couple priced it to move rather than to squeeze the last dollar.

Her husband's work pointed the same way. Marcos Avila, a former Miami Sound Machine musician, ran her production company and the magazine from Miami. Both careers were rooted in the county, and neither needed a base anywhere else.

Where else does Cristina Saralegui live?

No second home is reported. Saralegui has lived in Miami since childhood, built her career at Univision's local studios and has never been reported to own property outside the county. After the 2022 sale, El Diario NY wrote that where she moved was unknown. A 2024 La Nacion article about her television comeback still described her as living in Miami.

So the honest answer is that her current home is somewhere in Miami-Dade and is not public. That is a choice many retired public figures make after a well-publicized sale. Compare it with Willy Chirino, whose move from Bay Point to Pinecrest was fully reported, or with Juanes, who has kept one Key Biscayne house for two decades. Saralegui closed the chapter and went quiet.

What homes near the old Saralegui estate cost

Pinecrest is one of the most expensive inland markets in South Florida. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 170 active listings with a median list price of about $5.1 million and an average of around 130 days on market. That median is roughly eight times the City of Miami figure of about $639,000, because nearly everything for sale in the village is a large single-family home on a big lot.

The $6.05 million Casa Macao sale in 2022 would sit close to today's median rather than above it. Pinecrest has moved up since, and new spec homes on acre lots have closed well into the teens of millions in 2026. An eighteen-year-old house on 1.53 acres is now often a land play for a builder as much as a home for a family.

Owners of older estates in the village should weigh that carefully when pricing. Buyers can start with the Pinecrest city page, our homes with acreage collection, or the broader luxury homes page.

One more note for sellers. The Casa Macao listing closed in 32 days, and it did so because the price left room for a bidding contest. Sellers in the village who start high and cut later often sit for months. The 2022 result is a clean example of the other approach.
