Where Does David Ortiz Live in Florida? From a Pinecrest Estate to a Brickell Condo
September 21, 2026 · 8 min read · By Onias Derilus, Broker
David Ortiz built a 10,000-square-foot estate in Pinecrest on a lot he bought for $1.5 million in 2016, sold it for about $10.6 million in a village record, and in 2025 bought a condo at ORA by Casa Tua in Brickell. Here is what reporting says about both homes and what Pinecrest and Brickell cost now.
Where does David Ortiz live? The Red Sox Hall of Famer known as Big Papi has been a Miami-Dade County homeowner for a decade, and his address has changed. He built a custom estate in Pinecrest, the leafy village south of Coral Gables. Then he sold it for about $10.6 million, a record for the town. In June 2025, Robb Report reported that he bought a condo at ORA by Casa Tua, a new tower in Brickell. Here is what public reporting says about both homes and the markets around them.
Key takeaways
- Brickell, Miami: Ortiz's new home is a three-bedroom unit at ORA by Casa Tua, a 77-unit branded tower, per Robb Report and Yahoo Finance.
- Reported price and year: the condo purchase in 2025 fell in a reported $3.25 million to $3.75 million range. He bought the Pinecrest lot for $1.5 million in 2016.
- The estate he sold: about 10,000 square feet in Pinecrest, sold for about $10.55 million to $10.6 million, the priciest sale in the village's history. The buyer relisted it at $11.5 million in 2025.
- The market around it: Pinecrest had about 170 homes for sale at a median list price near $5.1 million, and the city of Miami about 11,300 at a median near $640,000, in our MLS feed as of September 2026.
Where does David Ortiz live in Florida?
Ortiz's Florida story has two chapters. The first is Pinecrest, a village of about 18,000 people in southern Miami-Dade County. It is known for large lots, old oaks and banyans, top-rated public schools and a strict building code that keeps the streets residential. Many Miami athletes, doctors and executives live there because it offers acreage 20 minutes from downtown.
In 2016 Ortiz paid $1.5 million for a lot in Pinecrest, per Yahoo Finance, and built a custom home of about 10,000 square feet. Robb Report and The Root have both toured the finished house in coverage of its later sale. He sold it in 2023 for about $10.55 million, which Robb Report called the most expensive sale ever recorded in Pinecrest. Yahoo Finance rounded the figure to $10.6 million.
The second chapter is Brickell. In June 2025, Robb Report reported that Ortiz had bought a unit at ORA by Casa Tua. That is a residential tower in Miami's financial district, developed with the Casa Tua restaurant and hospitality brand. Yahoo Finance described a three-bedroom, three-bath unit with a library and a terrace. The reported price range was $3.25 million to $3.75 million. So the honest answer to the question is that his Miami home is now a condo downtown.
Pure Equity does not publish private addresses or unit numbers. Our Pinecrest city page shows what is on the market in his old village. The Miami page covers Brickell and the rest of the city.
Inside the reported Pinecrest estate and the new condo
The Pinecrest house was a ground-up build. Yahoo Finance reported that Ortiz's then-wife, Tiffany, oversaw the construction. The Root's tour of the finished home showed a large, modern house with a resort-style pool and garden on a big lot. Robb Report's coverage of the 2025 relisting put the asking price at $11.5 million, about $1 million above what Ortiz received two years earlier. The bedroom and bath counts vary by listing, so we do not repeat them.
The Brickell condo is a different kind of home. ORA by Casa Tua is a 77-unit building, per Yahoo Finance, which makes it small by Brickell standards. Robb Report framed the move as a trade of a garden fence for a tower's amenities. The reported unit has three bedrooms, three baths, a library and a terrace. Neither outlet gave a square footage, and the building was still in development when the purchase was reported, so the finished specs may differ.
Both homes show the same pattern. Ortiz bought early, before a wave of buyers moved into each market. The Pinecrest sale in particular caught the peak of the pandemic-era run-up in south Miami-Dade.
Why David Ortiz chose Miami
Ortiz was born in Santo Domingo. Miami is the closest large American city to the Dominican Republic, with direct flights of under three hours. That alone explains a lot. He played his entire late career in Boston, retired after the 2016 season, and bought the Pinecrest lot the same year. The timing lines up with retirement and a move to a warmer, Spanish-speaking city close to home.
His work after baseball also fits Miami. Ortiz appears on Fox's baseball coverage and runs a foundation focused on children's heart care in the Dominican Republic and New England. His business interests travel well. Miami is a base with an airport that reaches both Boston and Santo Domingo in a few hours.
The move from Pinecrest to Brickell is the kind of shift many empty-nesters make. A 10,000-square-foot house on a large lot suits a family; a three-bedroom condo with hotel-style service suits a frequent traveler. Ortiz has not explained the move in public, so we leave it at what the two purchases suggest.
Where else does David Ortiz live?
The Dominican Republic is his other home base. Ortiz has kept homes in Santo Domingo throughout his career. He was there in June 2019 when he was shot at a bar in the city, an incident every major outlet covered. He recovered after surgery in Boston. Reporting since then still places him in the Dominican Republic often, but no outlet has described his current home there in detail.
During his playing years he lived in the Boston suburbs, and coverage at the time described a home in Weston, Massachusetts. We have not seen a current record showing whether he still owns property there. What is on the record is one Florida home at a time: Pinecrest until 2023, and Brickell since 2025.
What homes near David Ortiz cost
Pinecrest is one of the priciest single-family markets in Miami-Dade. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 170 active listings there. The median list price is near $5.1 million, and homes average about 130 days on market. That median reflects large lots and new construction. Ortiz's $10.55 million sale was still a record, roughly double the current median.
Brickell sits inside the city of Miami, which had about 11,300 listings at a median near $640,000. Most of that inventory is condos, and Brickell's newest towers list well above the median. A three-bedroom unit in a branded building with hotel services typically starts in the low millions, which matches the reported range for Ortiz's purchase.
Next door to Pinecrest, Coral Gables had about 440 listings at a median near $2 million. For condo buyers, our condos hub and new construction hub cover the towers rising in Brickell and Edgewater. The Miami-Dade County page compares all of these markets, and the luxury homes hub lists sales above $1 million.
