Adam Neumann, the WeWork co-founder, moved his family to Miami during the pandemic and paid about $44 million for two waterfront parcels in Bal Harbour in 2021. His new company, Flow, now owns towers in Brickell and Miami Worldcenter. Here is what reporting says about the estate and the market around it.
Where does Adam Neumann live? The WeWork co-founder lives in Bal Harbour, the small oceanside village just north of Miami Beach in Miami-Dade County. In 2021 a family trust paid about $44 million for two adjacent waterfront parcels there, one with a large house under construction and one vacant. Neumann has said his family settled in Miami during the pandemic, and his new company, Flow, builds and runs apartment towers in the city. Here is what public reporting says about the home and the move.
Key takeaways
- Bal Harbour, Miami-Dade County: two side-by-side waterfront lots on the bay side of the village, bought together in an off-market deal.
- Reported price and year: $44 million in June 2021 per The Real Deal and Fox Business; PROFILEmiami put the closed figure at $43 million.
- Reported size: about 50,000 square feet of land with 360 feet of water frontage. The house was under construction at purchase, at a reported 12,353 to 14,500 square feet.
- The market around it: Bal Harbour had about 155 homes for sale at a median list price near $2.7 million in our MLS feed as of September 2026.
Where does Adam Neumann live in Florida?
Bal Harbour is a village of about a square mile at the north end of the Miami Beach barrier island. It has an ocean side with condo towers and the Bal Harbour Shops, and a bay side with single-family homes on the water. The single-family section is small, and a lot with long frontage on the bay does not come up often.
The Real Deal reported in June 2021 that Neumann had agreed to pay $44 million for two properties on that bay side. Joseph Imbesi, a local investor, was the seller, and the deal never hit the open market. Fox Business and Entrepreneur carried the same figure. PROFILEmiami later reported that the Neumann family trust closed at $43 million, so the two numbers describe one deal at different stages.
The purchase came about a year after Neumann left WeWork. He had spent time in New York, the Hamptons and California, and CoStar quoted him saying his family felt at home in Miami right away and found it a good place to raise kids. So the Bal Harbour house is a primary home by his own account, and not a seasonal one.
Pure Equity does not publish private addresses. We name the village and the side of it that reporting has described, and nothing more. Our Bal Harbour city page shows current listings on both the ocean and bay sides, and the Miami-Dade County page puts the village in context.
Inside the reported Bal Harbour estate
The Real Deal described two parcels totaling about 50,000 square feet with 360 feet of waterfront. One parcel held a house still under construction, and the other was an empty lot. The seller gave Neumann a $1 million allowance toward finishing the unfinished house. That is a rare structure for a home sale and tells you how far along the build was.
Outlets disagree on the size of the house. The Real Deal put it at 14,500 square feet at the time of sale. PROFILEmiami later described a 12,353-square-foot mansion, completed about a year after the purchase. Both could be right, since a planned size and a finished, permitted size often differ. We give the range.
In January 2024, The Real Deal reported that Neumann went to the village for approval of a landscaping upgrade at the estate. That is the last public detail on the house itself. No sale, listing or new construction permit has surfaced since. The vacant lot next door has not been reported as sold or built on, so the estate appears to be two parcels still.
Why Adam Neumann chose Miami
Neumann's reasons are more public than most, because his company is here. He started Flow, a residential real estate venture, after WeWork. Its first buildings are in Miami. CoStar reported that Flow Brickell, a 54-story tower on the Miami River with 632 apartments, opened in the fall of 2025. Flow Miami, a 41-story rental at Miami Worldcenter, and its twin condo tower, Flow House, sit downtown. In April 2025 The Real Deal reported a $155 million loan to finish Flow House.
The company keeps buying. Commercial Observer reported in January 2025 that Flow paid $71 million for a Miami development site. Florida Trend ran a feature on the company in August 2026. Read together, that is a founder who moved his family and then built his second act in the same city.
CoStar also carried his own explanation. He said the family settled in Miami during the pandemic and felt at home at once. Florida's lack of a state income tax and the pandemic-era flow of New York money to Miami are the usual context, and both apply here. But the plainer reason is that his business is downtown, and Bal Harbour is a short drive up Collins Avenue from it.
Where else does Adam Neumann live?
Before Miami, Neumann's homes were in the New York area and California. He owned a townhouse in Manhattan and a house in the Hamptons during his WeWork years, and reporting at the time described a large estate in Marin County, north of San Francisco. CoStar summed it up as time spent in New York, the Hamptons and California before the family moved south.
We have not seen current records showing which of those homes he still holds. Some were reported sold after he left WeWork, but the details vary by outlet, so we do not list prices here. What is clear from his own statements is that Miami is now the base. He is Israeli-born and has business ties there through Flow's investors, but no outlet has reported a home in Israel.
What homes near Adam Neumann cost
Bal Harbour is a small market with a high floor. Our MLS feed as of September 2026 shows about 155 active listings in Bal Harbour. The median list price is near $2.7 million, and homes average about 200 days on market. Most of those listings are condos on the ocean side. Bayfront single-family homes are a small slice, and a lot with 360 feet of water frontage sits at the very top of it.
The neighbors give a sense of scale. Surfside, just south, had about 130 listings at a median near $1.1 million in the same feed. Miami Beach had about 2,500 listings at a median near $650,000. So Bal Harbour's median is more than double Surfside's and about four times Miami Beach's, which reflects the newer condo stock and the small number of homes.
Neumann paid about $44 million for two lots in 2021. Prices in the village have moved up since, and waterfront land on the barrier island rarely trades at all. Our waterfront homes hub covers bay and canal properties across South Florida, and the luxury homes hub lists sales above $1 million. For condo buyers, the oceanfront condos hub covers the towers along Collins Avenue.
